  11. Some days you get the elevator; on others, just the shaft...

  13. Sold a good customer a network upgrade along with a FAX server and mail 
  14. gateway.  Without thinking, we chose a couple of external USR 28.8 V.34 
  15. Sportster modems.  Turns out they are complete crap, at least with the 
  16. customers phone switch.  FAXing does not work at all, unless you call one 
  17. connection out of 30 attempts working.  Other junk (read: low end) modems 
  18. seem to work OK - a Megahertz PCMCIA worked fine.

  20. Bottom line - I've spent 10x the profit we would have made on these things 
  21. in my time futzing around, with no results. I want to buy a pair of good 
  22. FAX/data modems that actually work and be done with the project.  Can 
  23. anyone recommend a suitable model?  I'm thinking something in the Courier 
  24. price class, but I'll never touch a USR product again.  I need V.34 and 
  25. class 2.0 fax, though they don't have to both be in the same box.
