- Some days you get the elevator; on others, just the shaft...
-
- Sold a good customer a network upgrade along with a FAX server and mail
- gateway. Without thinking, we chose a couple of external USR 28.8 V.34
- Sportster modems. Turns out they are complete crap, at least with the
- customers phone switch. FAXing does not work at all, unless you call one
- connection out of 30 attempts working. Other junk (read: low end) modems
- seem to work OK - a Megahertz PCMCIA worked fine.
-
- Bottom line - I've spent 10x the profit we would have made on these things
- in my time futzing around, with no results. I want to buy a pair of good
- FAX/data modems that actually work and be done with the project. Can
- anyone recommend a suitable model? I'm thinking something in the Courier
- price class, but I'll never touch a USR product again. I need V.34 and
- class 2.0 fax, though they don't have to both be in the same box.
-
- Regards and many thanks,
-
- Al
